A Coalescence of Religion and Finance


The proposal integrates two distinctive programmes of a bank and a
mosque. Generating a new urban condition that negates the existing
formal and derelict public square. Along with the extension of new
derbs on the site, a deconstructed mosque is distributed across the
urban plan, as well as a bank that constitutes public and private

The design is derived from a series of consultations with the I Ching
through a method of chance operations, where a prefigured function
such as scale, position and materials have been assigned to a number.
Rules and parameters were set during the initial design stages with the
consequential design leading to a new typology for religious worship
co-existing with a financial institution.
