Palais Rose Holiday Resort Marrakesh

The proposal incorporates the masterplan of a holiday resort into the setting of the ruins of El Badi Palace, Marrakesh. The lost aesthetics of luxury and grandeur of the El Badi Palace have been transferred to the proposed resort, where materials such as fur, gold leaf and ceramic are used to provide extravagance and romanticism. This extravagance is contrasted with the traditional and humble mud-brick, which is used as the primary construction material. The repeated grid of varying scale and rotation provide the guides for the design and the construction of the more freeform and curved aspects of the proposal, from the larger scale building forms and landscaping to the window compositions and details. In theory producing a highly rational ‘chance’ design.
